Getting to Xela, Quetzatelnango

The Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City is the only airport in the country with flights to and from the United States and Europe.

Getting from Guatemala City to Quetzatelnango
Arriving at the airport you might want to change some money for taxis, buses, snacks, etc. In the airport they offer exchange offices.

First Option: First class bus to Quetzatelnango - these buses are older buses, similar to Greyhound buses in the United States.

Firstly. Take a taxi to a first class bus station (Alamo, Galgos, or Linea Dorada). This will cost around $10 (75Q)

Secondly. From there you can buy your ticket to Xela, approx $10 (75Q). Usually there are tickets available just before departure. The trip to Quetzatelnango takes up to four hours. We recommend you to avoid traveling from Guatemala City to Quetzaltenango any later than 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

Thirdly. From the Terminal in Quetzatelnango there will be taxis available to get to the family or hotel.

Second Option: Pick up service from Guatemala Airport to Bus Station. 

If your flight arrives early in the day, our driver in Guatemala City, (Donaldo) will pick you up and will take you directly to the bus station. to travel to Quetzaltenango the same day.
