YOU CAN SEND A CHILD TO SCHOOL FOR JUST $25 US!
School starts again in the last week of January in Guatemala but many of the children in Xecanchavox won't be going back because they can't afford school supplies. In Guatemala, children can only attend school if their families can pay for the school supplies, uniforms, books and any other educational materials. The severe poverty in Xecanchavox often prevents children from attending school. Their families often don’t have enough to eat, let alone the money it takes to send their children to school. Kamalbe wants to provide the necessary supplies for each child that may otherwise not get to attend school, or have to withdraw from school because their family cannot afford it. It costs approximately $25 US to purchase a backpack and supplies: notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, ruler, scissors, a glue stick, erasers, sharpeners and water colours.
The Kamalbe Project hopes to buy backpacks and essential school supplies for at least 10 children, especially for those with single mothers for whom it is a real struggle to support their families.
We will buy the supplies ourselves here in Xela and give them to the children personally when we visit Xecanchavox before school starts in the last week of January 2019. Afterwards, we will send you an email with the name and picture of the child who received “your” backpack!
