The Kamalbe Project is a small program with big dreams! With your help we can support more children in the poor rural communities of the Guatemala Highlands. Whether you can make a small one time donation, or you're able to become a monthly supporter, you'll be contributing to a better future for impoverished children.
We welcome donations that are not earmarked for a specific program - they help us keep the lights on! However, we understand that many donors wish to support a particular project so we have provided information below on our four main goals at this time:
1. Back Pack Program - You can help a child attend school for $25 US! In Guatemala, children can only attend school if their families can pay for school supplies, uniforms, books and any other educational materials needed to school. The severe poverty in rural communities often prevents them from attending school. The families in the community we are currently supporting - Xecanchavox - often don’t have enough to eat, let alone have the money it takes to send their children to school. Kamalbe wants to provide the necessary supplies for each child that may otherwise not get to attend school, or have to withdraw from school because their family cannot afford it. It costs approximately $25 US to purchase a back pack and supplies: notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, ruler, scissors, a glue stick, erasers, sharpeners and water paints.

2. Nicholas Sponsorship Program - on going support to ensure a child can go to school. It takes a village to sponsor a child!
While we welcome individual sponsors, you may wish to team up with family, friends, a school or church, and change a child's life. This program covers the cost of tuition and school fees, books, supplies and living expenses for the entire period of a child's studies. Without sponsorship many young children have to leave their homes and the school, in order to work. However, the Kamalbe program helps keep children in school, giving them a chance at a much brighter future.
A monthly donation of $40US is the best way to help us keep a child to school. We will send you a photo of the child you sponsor, along with background information on his or her circumstances. You will also receive regular progress reports.

3. Clotilde Dental Program Kamalbe's goal of reducing the number of children with dental cavities and assisting local schools with their education. We are not only trying to avoid dental problems, but also create a healthy culture through educational programs for the kids by teaching how important it is to take care of their own teeth and general health. Our free services are fundamental to assist dental health as well as reduce costs for rural families so that this money can instead be put towards feeding their family.
Kamalbe has created the Dental Mobile Clinics to provide dental care in the communities, so health problems are detected at an early stage and are accompanied by preventive campaigns. Thanks to an agreement between Kamalbe School and Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, Quetzaltenango, its Dental School helps provide fluoride application, dental extractions, and lectures for children in Xecanchavox. We also assist some parents with minor dental treatment, and all the treatments are free to the children.
Even though the dentist professionals donate their time and service, funds are needed to buy medication, gloves, syringes and needles, gloves, anesthesia etc. We really appreciate your help, time, and support of the project for the children in the community of Xecanchavox in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
All donations are important to us, no matter the size. All we need is $1.65 per child to cover expenses and to keep the program running. Making a small donation of $5 would provide services to 3 children, and a donation of $10 would mean you are helping at least 7 children!

4. Community Center in Xecanchavox Our long term goal in Xecanchavox is to build a community center that will provide space for educational, health and recreational programming in the community. Some of the programs the community center will be home to includes dental hygiene education, health and nutrition workshops, personal and business finance advising, tutoring for K-12 students, English lessons, computers and technology seminars, and recreational sports, games and arts. We are currently raising funds in order to start building the community center.
The Kamalbe Community Center will act as the project's base. It will be a dedicated school from where our school can continue giving lessons to the townspeople on a regular basis. Once the Center is built, we will be recruiting full-time volunteers to live in the accommodation provided by the Center, teach the lessons to the community, and take charge of our center from there.
Our architects have quoted us around $18,000 for the full completion of the Community Center, including everything necessary on the interior. We have currently raised $2000
